This notice summarizes the privacy practices of CDIC with regard to the CDIC Broker Reporting Portal.
CDIC may collect, use and disclose personal information under the authority of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation Act to make deposit insurance payments to eligible depositors. In the case of brokerage deposits, CDIC requires information about the beneficiaries of such deposits in order to process deposit insurance payments for those beneficiaries. This Broker Reporting Portal facilitates communications and data-sharing between CDIC and brokers for that purpose. We may engage service providers to assist us in processing personal information for these purposes.
All personal information collected by CDIC is protected under the Privacy Act, which gives individuals the right to access and correct their personal information.
Providing personal information to CDIC through the Broker Reporting Portal is voluntary.
